I was at the first atheist meeting on the UTA campus in 2002 (or 03) when we received threats. i have remained silent most of my life regarding religion- not any more. I want to help the group as much as possible. Is there anything the group needs? Let me know. Thank you very much and keep it up!!!!! To Whom it may concern, I am a Christian in attendance in a Chruch in the Grand Prairie area, My Pastor is conducting a Class in Apologetics for the next 6 weeks, and is seeking as part of his class an Atheist who would care to debate on the Issue of God's existence, If your orginization is interested in this please contact me, I will forward your contact information to that Pastors Facebook account and the details of the debate will be discussed between your orginization and him other than that anything else can be discussed with him. You scored in the Dec. 13 New York Times. The Christian backlash is a death throe, because religion is dying in America, as it did in Europe and elsewhere. Here's my newspaper column on the topic: A huge news story, barely noticed (The Charleston Gazette - Nov. 9, 2010) By James A. Haught Philosopher-historian Will Durant called it "the basic event of modern times." He didn't mean the world wars, or the end of colonialism, or the rise of electronics. He was talking about the decline of religion in Western democracies. The great mentor saw subsiding faith as the most profound occurrence of the past century -- a shift of Western civilization, rather like former transitions away from the age of kings, the era of slavery and such epochs. Since World War II, worship has dwindled starkly in Europe, Canada, Australia, Japan and other advanced democracies. In those busy places, only 5 or 10 percent of adults now attend church. Secular society scurries along heedlessly. Pop

More power to you, you crazy atheistic humanists you! You're in the Times this morning, as part of an atheistic wave of rationalism! We have our own "xmas w/o gods" sign hanging here which I fully expect to be burned or defaced by those alien-loving fanatics. But this is all certainly a historical surge, and I applaud your courage deep in the heart of Texas! (Not very Green of those christians to burn fossil fuels in following the bus with your sign on it! What? christians can be hypocrites???!!) Keep the faith in your own powers of articulation, rationality and respect for humans to create meaning for themselves! Submitted By: Xmas w/o Aliens, NYC
