On Saturday, August 19, members of Metroplex Atheists will march with banners along the streets of downtown Fort Worth from 10-11 a.m.

“By carrying the banners through downtown, we are making the statement that Christian Nationalism will ultimately fail and democracy will prevail,” said Randy Word, Director at Metroplex Atheists.

On August 6, District Judge Reed O’Connor denied Metroplex Atheists’ motion for a preliminary injunction to post banners on downtown lampposts. Had the motion been granted, Fort Worth would have been required to display the banners advertising an upcoming event about the dangers of Christian Nationalism.

Though the court denied the motion, the lawsuit continues, and a billboard advertising the event will be up until August 24, with the seminar taking place on August 26 from 1–5 pm at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden.

At 10 am on August 19, Metroplex Atheists will meet at the intersection of Main St. and E. 2nd St. to begin the march. The group invites all members of the community—whether religious or nonreligious—to join in on this peaceful march in the name of freedom of religion and freedom of speech.
